Coming Soon! Insignia Books in Progress

Hey, how’s everyone going? I’ve had my ups and downs during Lockdown, but Insignia projects are giving me a reason to get out of bed and get busy every day!

I actually have THREE new anthologies in production: a second drabbles anthology; a new Insignia Series (Vol.8.) short story anthology; and a reprint collection for Kindle Select/Kindle Unlimited. It’s so exciting to step up production and work with my favorite returning authors as well as many wonderful new contributors.

Here are the 3 new books, in order of their planned release. None are on pre-order yet, but I’ll notify everyone when I get all the releases scheduled.

  1. Insignia 2020: Asian Speculative Fiction

This anthology was an invite-only project, as I felt I had a large enough group of contributors to make an ebook collection of previously published Asian SFF works to put in the Kindle Select Program. It was also an easy call to manage while processing submissions for the new drabbles anthology.

Insignia 2020 has 9 short stories and a collection of 6 poems (by Mary Soon Lee). To view the full Table of Contents, visit the Insignia 2020 page.

By the way, the mice on the cover are for the Year of the Rat!

2. Southeast Asian Fantasy Drabbles (Insignia Drabbles Vol.2.)

This anthology includes 83 drabbles (100-word stories) inspired by various Southeast Asian folklore, as well as original fantasy and science fiction pieces.

Each contributor was allowed 3 acceptances each, and we have 40 contributors total. The most popular country to drabble about was the Philippines, followed closely by Malaysia. It’s a fun collection!

To view the full list of contributors visit the main Southeast Asian Fantasy Drabbles page.

This one is exciting! It’s almost 2 years since the last Insignia Series anthology came out, and I really wanted to do one more in this set with a green cover, so despite having 2 projects open already, I launched another invite-only search for some awesome Japanese fantasy stories. And, I have a bit of a castle obsession…..the perfect theme!

Castles & Kimono will feature a number of short stories, micro-fiction, and poetry works, from some of your favorite Insignia Stories contributors. As the title (and dreamy girl on the cover) suggest, this is a light fantasy collection with historical Japanese settings: featuring princesses, samurai, magic, and beautiful castles!

The Table of Contents for this book is still being finalized, so I’ll release more information later this week when I have all contracts back.

If you’re new to us and haven’t read any of The Insignia Series anthologies, you might like to browse our All Ebooks page to see the previous themes.

We’re currently closed for anthology projects now, but hope to open something new towards the end of the year. And we are always open to Asian SFF poetry, if that’s your jam! We’d love to increase the frequency of publication in our online series, Instincts. All writers are welcome 🙂

P.S. How do you like the new blog format? I’m still playing with the colors and images, but I hope it’s much more readable and easier to browse. ~Kelly~
